... second week of October and one senses the city is reluctant to  feel at least somewhat seasonal. Somewhat Fall. But--eh, L.A. aint ready, yet. To Fall. And neither am i. I am, however, feeling those autumnal creative vibes all around. I'm feeling them in Black and White this week. How about you? 

Equinox: One Year Later

... it was on this date one year ago that i uploaded, via my BlackBerry, this post which unofficially re-launched this blog.

As i walked out of work tonight, i took a deep breath of the celestial canvas, a masterpiece in progress, and exhaled, giving it all back. The season's Rhythm and Beauty.

... it's been one of those slow weeks for mobile photography. so a photo of a shopping cart seems like a reach for me. but i do like this pic, the colors mostly.

Bassist, composer, and band leader Charles Mingus didn't think of his groups as just a band but as workshops. So, too, this is not a blog but a workshop. Dig?

I haven't always had much to say about the photo(s) i post everyday--sometimes a found quote expresses and expands the mood best, sometimes the text lays out--but, i do want to workshop more writing here. In addition to the bursts of haiku, and short poems i tag as "freestyle", i may begin assigning myself a monthly project or topic to write on and explore in more depth. As always, I welcome your suggestions for subject matter and comments. Thank you for jamming with me!

Been kind of a slow week with the mobile photos. But some good news: after 4 1/2 months without a job, i finally began a temp gig the day after my birthday. Been up and down, driving around (yes, driving!), and although i haven't taken many pix that inspire haiku, i haven't abandoned my haiku-a-day for National Poetry Month. Call it a post-birthday artistic lull; however, reflecting on new directions in art, this blog, and life. Instead of scheduling four different posts for the four days i've been absent (even though it makes more sense for continuity), i make  just one offering with four new haiku accompanying a photo from the early Spring archive. I'm thankful for the embrace of friends and family who've been of beautiful company and support during these tough months, to the ancestors and Creator, for this dream, this breath, this life, this day to live fully ... and to you, dear reader.
