The Fourth

... this was how the sky looked on the 4th this year. In years past i've looked out the window towards Burbank and could see more than one distant fireworks show.

I am remembering the fireworks close enough to try to catch with our tongues like raindrops, in an embrace in Pasadena.

Boom! Boom! Bang! 

The neighborhood exploded tonight more than any other 4th i can remember sending my stray cat running off to hide somewhere before i fed her and my own Moon darting upstairs for refuge.

Blah! Blah! Bleh! 

Independence up in flames with teepees/ The bombs bursting in the air get creepy/ Spare me the flag and patriotic/ The bloodshed in our name is psychotic!
