Parabola

... i've taken many pictures of random patterns in the sky--mostly straight lines--that are definitely NOT clouds. Something tells me the jets emitting these trails aren't giving us [terrestrials] a celestial geometry lesson. Somewhere, something has graphed the axis of symmetry; the question, then, is: Do the coordinates of the vertex correspond to a physical place on Earth? Is it all just part of a larger equation?
